The concept of a mouse that you can use anywhere is special; there are cases where the touch screen or trackpad is more logical. However, in the MX Master 3S, Logitech may have created something you want to take with you when you take the device.

Here’s what we love

  • Traces absolutely anywhere
  • Incredible battery life
  • It requires very little space

And what we don’t

  • Some minor issues with the scroll wheel
  • For some people, they may not have enough buttons

I write this while sitting on the couch, my laptop is two feet on the table and at the moment I’m lying comfortably. I don’t have to lean at any point because I have a Bluetooth keyboard on my lap and an MX Master 3S on my couch arm. And that’s all it needs, a few inches of upholstery, thigh or desk, and you can move comfortably with any device you own, with minimal movement.

The mouse is part of Logitech’s newly expanded MX Master line and complements their MX Mechanical and MX Mechanical Mini keyboards. It comes in three colors, “graphite”, “pale gray” and “black”, with graphite matching the keyboard. Let’s take a closer look at why you should buy an MX Master 3S and why it should never leave you.

You can use this really anywhere

Thanks to high DPI and tracking technology, you can comfortably use the mouse on any hard surface you can think of. During the test period, the mouse spent most of its time on the shoulder of my sofa, which is about eight inches wide but rounded, so it actually has a usable area of about two inches. This precise setup caused so many problems for the smaller mice that I stopped bothering with them, but the MX Master 3S didn’t have a single problem. The high DPI allowed me to easily perform photo editing tasks and play video games.

When it comes to tracking, which is the main thing I’m looking for in a mouse, the MX Master 3S beat me. It will track on the glass, which is impressive in itself, but other than that, I couldn’t find a solid surface to bother with. I even put it on my head, and even though I was a little directionally confused, the mouse was fine. I even tried to confuse the MX Master 3S with a mirror. My logic was that a reflective surface could interfere with its optics. No, it was fine, maybe not 100% as smooth as on the table, but definitely usable.

Then there’s the three-channel mouse function. Nowadays, this is quite standard with Logitech mice and keyboards, but it’s still worth noting because it allows users to pair up to three devices at once. Users can then switch between the three by pressing a button. This is great if, like me, you have a computer that you work on at home and a laptop that you use on the go. No playing with Bluetooth pairing; Click on the right channel and it’s time to go.

The battery also affects the practicality of the mouse. Logitech claims that the mouse lasts 70 days on a full charge and works three hours after a minute of fast charging. I’ve used the mouse extensively since I received it, and I’ve charged it once, so assuming it’s been about 50% charged from the factory, it adds up.

Some people may not like the lack of macro keys

Logitech options plus application

Seven buttons are fine for me, but some people may lament the missing macro buttons. Without sacrificing your back and forth buttons, you have one spare button on the thumb rest, which can be a problem if you rely on mouse-based keyboard shortcuts rather than keyboard shortcuts.

In Logitech’s defense, you can remap each mouse function extensively through Logi Options +. So the user could also remap the scroll selection button, because once he chooses a scroll wheel preference, he doesn’t really do much. From a personal point of view, I wouldn’t trade ergonomics for extra buttons, nor do I use a button on my thumb, even though it’s set to take a screenshot – a PC feature that I use all the time at work. I use the keyboard.

The two-wheel system is also fantastic; I’ve found that I’m constantly using the horizontal scroll wheel. It’s a game change when you want to adjust the size of the brush in Photoshop, and it’s also great for regular web browsing.

The MX Master 3S can knock

Sometimes I can be clumsy and using the MX Master 3S on small, narrow surfaces is a great way to ensure that it will knock on the floor at some point. While he probably won’t survive being thrown into a wall in a moment of frustration, you shouldn’t worry if it sometimes takes a three-foot fall from the table.

Confession time: During testing, I accidentally knocked the MX Master 3S to the floor several times and bounced once or twice, but there is no scratch on it. She didn’t even develop any new rattles or performance issues. It’s not something I wanted to test, but it can be reassuring to know that the expensive mouse you just bought won’t break when handled lightly.

It won’t bother the people around you

One of the highlights Logitech made at a press conference for the MX Master 3S was how quiet he was and didn’t lie. Although the click is not completely silent, it is much quieter than a standard mouse, including others I’ve used since Logitech.

Overall, the mouse is 90% quieter than its predecessors Master 3 and Master 3S. Logitech says it has completely redesigned the sensors and switches to achieve this. While clicking can be annoying, it’s a feature I haven’t noticed much. You know it’s there when you focus on it, but my keyboard still makes a lot of clicking sounds, so I’ve never been so afraid that my mouse would join the party.

I can hardly find a mistake with that

MX Master 3S underneath

I usually like to identify a few small problems, even if they are Hnitopiš. If you are going to spend $ 100 on something like a mouse, you should be informed of any problems, no matter how small. Unfortunately, with the MX Master 3S, I completely failed in this regard. I’ve been using it for over a month and I haven’t noticed any major issues.

The main scroll wheel can sometimes be inaccurate to the touch when in the ratchet setting; and it is done. If you don’t want to move a little further from time to time, use the smooth setting. The side wheel once decided not to play well with Trello, but closing the browser and reopening it solved the problem, so it could be a software problem and not a mouse error. The absence of macro buttons can be a problem for someone, but if it’s vital, it’s still better to look for a gaming mouse.

In addition, the Master 3S was perfect. It follows like a dream on any surface where it was close, the click is comfortable and needs almost no space like someone who usually earns cheap mice; Saving a few dollars is not worth the effort. If you’re looking for a Bluetooth mouse, spend a little extra and get this one. Practicality and lack of problems are worth every penny.
