It’s National Hydration Day, so it’s time to remind you stay hydrated during the hot summer months. By maintaining a level of hydration, you can prevent you from becoming ill during the day the worst heat waves. An easy way to achieve this is to rely on a high-quality reusable water bottle. Not only are they a healthier alternative to disposable plastic water bottles, but it’s a beneficial way to contribute and help protect the environment. Getting used to quenching your thirst with a reusable water bottle is one of the best ways to start eliminating plastics from your daily life.

There are also many styles on the market that are perfect for your commute, gym or other activities. The varieties are endless, no matter what you want filtered bottlefolding version, and self-cleaning or if you prefer to keep your water cold for several hours. If you are ready to switch from plastic water bottles, you will be happy to replace them with these reusable, stylish and durable water containers.

How to choose a reusable water bottle

Water bottles are mainly made of three different materials: plastic, glass and metal (typically aluminum or metal) stainless steel). Each reusable bottle will have its own hydrating advantages and disadvantages.

Plastic is light and durable, but plastic can transfer taste or smell to your drink when you drink. Glass bottles are safer to drink than plastic and do not taste, but are fragile and not ideal for use as a travel water bottle or for harsh outdoor activities such as tourism. Many glass bottles come in a protective silicone case to prevent breakage. Metal water bottles such as those made stainless steelthey are usually insulated around the body of the bottle and will best keep your hot drink hot and cold, but they can be heavy and can be dents and scratches on them.

After deciding what material you want your reusable drinking water bottle to be made of, consider the type of lid. Do you want a straw lid, a flip-off cap with a spout (as on a travel mug) or a screw cap? Maybe you need a lid that can be attached to your backpack with a carabiner, or a lid that doesn’t unscrew in your work bag.

Also consider size and design when choosing the perfect water bottle. Most companies produce their bottles in a variety of sizes, usually ranging from 12 to 40 ounces. Smaller sizes often have a thinner, sleeker, narrow-necked design, while larger sizes usually mean a wide-necked bottle or jug-like design that is suitable for drinking at all-day events, such as a day at the beach. Some have added features like being self-cleaning or filtered.

I searched the web for the most functional and fashionable options for reusable water bottles. I started looking for brands that I already knew created good products like S’well, although I eventually found a few that aren’t as widely evangelized, but still create great products to help you stay hydrated.

From basic bottles to portable pockets to all-day dining rooms, I tested more than 25 bottles and the best ones got on this list. All bottles on this list usually have favorable customer reviews on Amazon in the four-star range (no product can please everyone). In the end, it’s up to you to decide which is the best reusable water bottle – and to stay hydrated.

Water flask

Hydro Flask exploded in popularity a few years ago and remained at the top of the water bottle ladder thanks to its double vacuum insulation design, durable stainless steel materials and a fun variety of colors. The insulated stainless steel Hydro Flask bottle keeps a cold drink cold for up to 24 hours and a hot drink warm for up to 12 hours.

This insulated bottle is durable enough to fit in bags and survive the hustle and bustle of your days (stainless steel, remember?), Plus insulated bottles resist condensation so the outside of your bottle stays dry when you drink. The Hydro Flask vacuum insulated water bottle comes with a standard lid and spout, but you can always combine it to create the best water bottle.

We used to list the Platypus Platy Ultralight Collapsible as the best portable water bottle for backpack travel, but since then Platypus has come up with the Platypus DuoLock Soft Bottle 1.0 L – a more robust and stylish version of the Ultralight Collapsible water bottle. The DuoLock Soft Bottle has a built-in carabiner, so it’s ideal for freeing up space in a backpack: Just clip it to the outside instead of stuffing it inside. You can choose from 1 liter or 2; In my own hiking experience, I have found that 1 liter is enough if you do not go on a full day trek.

All Klean Kanteen water bottles are environmentally friendly thanks to the patented, durable, abrasion-resistant Klean Coat finish. But the vacuum-insulated Klean Kanteen 20-ounce Insulated Reflect bottle is particularly environmentally friendly and is made of only three materials: stainless steel, food grade silicone and bamboo. It has no paints, ink, coatings or plastics.

It is easy to carry, has a nice loop and the bottle is elegant in its simplicity. Despite lacking the insulating coating that most stainless steel bottles have, the Klean Kanteen Insulated Reflect is still vacuum-insulated with a double wall, and the bottle kept my water cold for as long as I needed to. Hot drinks and hot liquids are not recommended due to the steel bamboo cap.

S’well’s insulated stainless steel Roamer keeps an incredible 64 ounces of cold and tasty water, even when it’s hot outside. I took this bottle on a 9-kilometer hike and it lasted until the end. It was a hot day, so there were no pieces of ice left, but the water was still icy.

The S’well bottle, made of food grade stainless steel, is ideal for long, hot beach days and for those who do not feel like refilling the bottle several times a day. Because it can hold 40 or 64 ounces, depending on the model, and is made of stainless steel, this insulated bottle can be quite heavy when full, so you may not want it for hiking or walking. It’s definitely not the easiest way to carry water for hiking, but overall I didn’t mind having this 64-ounce water bottle.

I tested the Astrea One water bottle for our list of the best filtered water bottles for 2021 and although I would not recommend using this bottle with natural fresh water, it works wonders with tap water, filters out lead, benzene, mercury, copper, chlorine and other unwanted . It also has a great design that is strong, durable and easy to clean.

CrazyCap

In another category of reusable water bottles that remove impurities and pathogens, self-cleaning water bottles use UV-C light to decontaminate water. I tested three self-cleaning UV-C water bottles and CrazyCap Gen 2 had the best taste and has the best set of features: It has a normal cleaning mode for tap water and a so-called Crazy mode for fresh water; automatic cleaning function; and a slim design that makes it great to wear in a car and puts in a bag.

No matter how hard we try, it is not always possible to avoid a quick stop at the gas station for a bottle of water. You may have forgotten a reusable water bottle or brought it, but you are in the middle of nowhere and need a clean refill. Enter: Pathwater.

Pathwater produces the first bottled water in a 100% reusable, recyclable aluminum water bottle. You can find the company’s product at gas stations and convenience stores (use the store locator) and it costs only $ 2 to $ 3, depending on your location. You can also buy a case (link below). The water that comes in these bottles is as good, if not better, than any water you would get in a plastic bottle, and they are infinitely reusable and recyclable.

I stocked the refrigerator with a Pathwater case and have been using the same set for almost a year! Even if you don’t reuse your Pathwater bottle, recycling requires five times less energy than a plastic bottle of the same size, according to the Pathwater website.

Glass is non-toxic, does not leak chemicals and does not decompose over time, so it is a great alternative to a plastic water bottle. The body of this Contigo bottle is made entirely of glass, the protective outer layer is silicone and the cap is made of stainless steel. Thanks to the outer silicone case, this bottle is extra sticky (no broken glass!) And can be washed in a dishwasher on the top stand.

I owned many Contigo bottles and this Purity glass has fulfilled the reputation of a brand that produces durable, stylish and functional bottles. It is also one of the cheapest bottles on this list; Honestly, I don’t know how Contigo benefits from such cheap bottles at all, especially when they seem to be high quality and durable. But hey, I’m not complaining about a great reusable water bottle for just $ 15.

Pressa bottle

Some people like to drink ordinary tap water. Some think it is the most boring fluid that has ever adorned this planet, even though it is essential for human survival. I’m one of the last, and that’s why I love Pressa Bottle, an infusion water bottle with a built-in juicer. It’s a great reusable water bottle for people who are on the go, who want water soaked in fruit, but don’t want to deal with preparing a whole jug for it at home.

All you have to do is put the fruit of your choice in the juicer and turn the dial up. This reusable glass bottle has a silicone case that makes it easier to grip and is disassembled for easy cleaning. You can also wash the Pressa Bottle safely in the dishwasher.

Grayl

Grayl Geopress Purifier filters 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, protozoa and sediments. It holds 24 ounces of water, is incredibly durable and easy to clean – which is a really big problem because heavy filtered water bottles are routinely cleaned. I tested the Grayl Geopress Purifier along with five other bottles of filtered water, and the Geopress came to me as the safest and best investment for outdoor use.

The Que bottle can be the most adorable water bottle I’ve ever used. This bottle, made only of silicone and stainless steel, folds to half its size when emptied – ideal for anyone who always tries to save space in the bag. The Que bottle is also dishwasher safe, BPA-free and 100% plastic-free. Flexible and durable, this folding bottle can withstand falls and falls and, in addition, returns to its normal size and shape even after complete breakage.
