Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes (2020)
How great and interesting is the name? Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes is a low-budget comedy about time travel by Japanese filmmaker Junta Yamaguchi. Wild Assumption: A coffee shop worker finds out that his television can show him what will happen 2 minutes into the future. There is obviously much more to it and the results are as creative and imaginative as you can expect within the constraints of independent filmmaking. jewel.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
Remakes are rarely better than the original, but sometimes there is a notable exception. The 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers builds on the already excellent sci-fi horror film of 1956 and tells the story of a health inspector and his colleagues who realize that San Francisco residents are slowly being replaced by drone-like replicas. The Invasion of the Body Thieves, which creates a terrifying and paranoid atmosphere led by Donald Sutherland, was celebrated as one of the best sci-fi of all time.

There is not much to say about the first of the Terminator franchise. The story of James Cameron, who was apparently born out of a feverish dream, provides us with a cyborg assassin sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor, whose unborn son is destined to save humanity from a robotic apocalypse.

Before Dune, Denis Villeneuve directed another immense sci-fi classic. Arrival plays Amy Adams as a linguist who has suffered personal tragedy in the past. When a mysterious alien spaceship hovers over the Earth, it is recruited to make contact – with completely unexpected life-changing results. Arrival is a complete package with performances, cinematography and writing that are … from another world.
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
The second Star Trek film in a rebooted franchise brings an amazing adventure with an unforgettable villain in Benedict Cumberbatch Khan. The gang on the USS Enterprise travels to a forbidden zone in space to save an endangered species. Although it’s a bit outdated – a groundless scene with lingerie and a change of ethnicity for Khan – Into Darkness is a rough trip.
The fifth element is not for everyone, but if you are in the mood for a space adventure without hinges, it will bring all the opera performances from the blue aliens you could wish for. Follow Korben Dallas, the taxi driver who has been hunted for a mysterious fifth element that can defeat the cosmic evil force.

Look, this is another Roland Emmerich movie! This follows the ground resistance soldiers who last opposed the alien attack, an event they recorded on the 4th of July calendar.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005)
Sci-fi comedy does not always celebrate success, and this Douglas Adams adaptation will be either strange in a good way if you know the source material, or strange in a humorous and confusing way. My 13-year-old loved it.

It’s hard to leave The Tomorrow War off this list because it’s a big sci-fi Prime Video event starring Chris Pratt. He follows a teacher who is called to war with aliens – in the future. An easy-to-digest flick that you can watch while looking at your phone.

The vivarium is interesting. It could frustrate a lot of viewers with its surreal aspects, but it’s still an impressive film. A young couple gets stuck in a labyrinth of suburban neighborhoods of identical houses. When he tries to escape, he finds out that they are taking care of a mysterious baby.

Emile Hirsch plays a sci-fi horror film about a father who keeps his seven-year-old daughter trapped in their house all his life. Chloe inevitably seeks out nature, leading to inexplicable events and a clash with the government ministry. An impressive work with a father-daughter relationship at its core.

Do you remember that Dane DeHaan from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 played in this sci-fi with found shots? He plays a teenager without friends who develops telekinetic skills. What begins as a way of fun and pranks will result in an act that goes too far. With a little story about the origins of superheroes, Chronicle is a clever documentary-style sci-fi event.
Action sci-fi, thanks to which director Neill Blomkamp got on the map. The hybrid found footage film takes you directly to the intense action of the alternative year 1982, when an alien spaceship appears over Johannesburg, Africa. A unique, exciting and slightly political classic.
Yes, this is a prequel movie. Yes, this is the fifth in the Alien franchise. Yes, it’s grandiose and its plot doesn’t match its stunning visuals. But Prometheus introduced us to the wonderfully scary and unnerving android David, played by Michael Fassbender. His plot may not make complete sense in the end, but it doesn’t detract from the fun value of this sci-fi horror movie.
This low-budget India has surprisingly high production values, impressive performances and an inventive camera that helps tell the story of two teenagers in New Mexico in the 1950s. The inventive couple chases down the potentially extraterrestrial origins of a mysterious sound frequency.
City of Lost Children (1995)
Before Amelia, Jean-Pierre Jeunet brought his taste and visual style into sci-fi fantasy (co-directed by Marc Caro). The City of Lost Children follows an evil scientist who abducts children and thinks that their dreams are key to preventing aging.

For those who lack Black Mirror, it will somehow fill this gap. Black Box follows his father, who is trying to put his life back together after a car accident. He agrees with an experimental approach that will take him to the darkest corners of his mind.

Coherence does not need an Avatar-sized budget to create an impressive story. The low-budget independent film follows friends at a party who begin to notice bizarre events after the comet passes by. Coherence is even more disturbing due to its grounded environment.

An interesting assumption? Check. Low budget? Check. Twist at the end? Check. This indie sci-fi mystery from Travis Milloy is consolidating its place in Google’s search for “the best indie sci-fi gems”. The complex story of the Infinity Chamber focuses on a man held in an automated prison. He has to fight with high technology to escape, which is an extremely tricky act.

Archive is a great cry for well-done, well-thought-out sci-fi that makes sure its meditations don’t exceed the value of entertainment. Gavin Rothery’s British directorial debut plays Theo James as a scientist working to make artificial intelligence as human as possible. His reasons are hidden, personal and certainly work. The archive, which he likens to Ex Machina, is a guaranteed storytelling with a penetrating focus on character.
